Job Description
Supervises and coordinates operation and staff of a Laboratory discipline or shift. Monitors testing procedures and protocols used in the section. Seeks and implements solutions to issues relating to processing and data performance. Participates in all QA/QC activities that affect Laboratory section and patient care.

1. Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff. Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
2. Prioritizes, schedules, assigns and monitors work to optimize operational performance.
3. Coordinates staffing, material requirements and equipment needs.
4. Analyzes, recommends, implements and monitors approved work-flow changes, procedures and protocols. Implements System/Department policies and government regulations, and monitors compliance.
5. Maintains quality control activities and records.
6. Ensures maintenance and calibration of equipment to assure proper functioning.
7. Assists with preparation of and compliance with the approved operating budget.
8. Performs related duties, as required.
ADA Essential Functions
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related degree, required.
Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Cytotechnologist, required.
Minimum of six (6) years clinical experience including three (3) years of leadership responsibility (e.g. - leading/guiding; monitoring/coaching/ training; scheduling/prioritizing/assigning work; analyzing, implementing and monitoring Quality Control/ Performance Improvement/Budgets; and/or coordinating Inventory/Information/Projects), required.
Knowledge of related theory, principles, practices, applicable instrumentation, analytical methods, quality control, statistical analysis, current government regulations and leadership.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
