Supervisor Security Operations (Southside)

The SUPERVISOR, SECURITY OPERATIONS supervises and coordinates assigned staff and activities of the security department. Assists in protecting and safeguarding hospital property, visitors and personnel. Monitors and controls vehicular traffic and parking on hospital grounds. Provides emergency coverage when department is understaffed. Maintains order, detects and prevents crime and enforces the policies of the hospital.
1. Supervises, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates the performance of staff. Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.
2. Assigns security officers to various posts. Makes up daily rosters, coordinates request for time off, and disciplines Security Officers. Assigns personnel to transportation.
3. Responsible for controlling flow of vehicular traffic and parking on hospital grounds.
4. Handles issuance and safeguard of two-way radios and maintains repair log.
5. Provides emergency coverage when security department is understaffed due to illness or other circumstances.
6. Ensures operation of electronic fire and security alarm system and other security equipment.
7. Acts as liaison to Police and Fire Department personnel as need.
8. Dispatches personnel to investigate fire alarms, bomb scares and other incidents requiring attention.
9. Receives records and safeguard patients' property and found property.
10. Safeguards and issues hospital keys to authorized persons only.
11. Assists with direction of personnel during medical emergency.
12. Assists security personnel in the performance of their duties through physical force, when required.
13. Performs related duties, as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Knowledge of Security Operations and Criminology as normally acquired through completion an Associates Degree, required.
Current, valid, unrestricted New York State Driver's License, required.
Minimum two (2) years responsible related work experience to ensure familiarity with the security operations.
Current, valid, New York State Security License, required.
