Non-Exempt, Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Availible PURPOSE:
Maintain day to day operations on-site within the shelter system.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all program participants.
Conduct shelter intakes and enforce compliance with shelter policies and procedures.
Document all activity which takes place within the shelter during the shift.
Serve as a point of contact and monitor the building.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Support Staff is responsible for the safety of all clients.
Conducts client intakes and enforces client compliance with shelter policies and procedures.
Documents all shelter activities, writes incident reports and staff memos.
Briefs incoming staff member on shift activity.
Brings incoming staff members up to date on daily client census.
Begins shift by surveying shelter conditions to maintain safety and cleanliness.
Documents any issues found.
Conducts regular routine room checks.
Maintains shelter property safety, especially during inclement weather.
Performs routine perimeter checks of grounds.
Reports any security system problems and maintenance needs.
Monitors client arrivals and departures, assuring each client signs in and out of the shelter indicating the arrival time and departure.
Documents all client absences and reports to DSS Emergency Services and weekend client absence.
Monitors and documents all staff and visitor arrivals and departures.
Requests and photocopies identification from all visitors.
Monitors weekday quiet time; encouraging educational activities and homework completion when necessary.
Provides crisis intervention and mediation as needed.
Arranges medical and other emergency services for clients in need.
Informs Program Director when emergency services (fire, police, EMTP) are called to the shelter.
Requests and documents police officers? names and badge numbers.
Conducts monthly fire drills and safety maintenance.
Remains up to date on safety, emergency, and evacuation plan procedures.
Regularly reviews shelter policies and procedures.
Attends staff meetings.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Workers are representatives of United Veterans Beacon House and are, therefore, expected to conduct themselves in a way that reflects accountability to the agency, the community, and the client system.
Does not abuse sick time or personal days.
Consistently reports to work on time and is ready to begin work at the start of the shift.
Always provides proper notification when late or absent.
Available to work overtime when necessary.
Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in the organization of workflow.
Able to perform duties independently, with minimal need of direct supervision.
Maintains the confidentiality of clients, shelter/programs, agency and or United Veterans Beacon House.
Reports to work well-groomed and in compliance with dress code.
Wears ID Badge while on duty.
Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner clients, visitors, contract staff, volunteers, and co-workers.
Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the workplace and towards job.
Projects a good image in dealing with the public clients.
Is willing to make an extra effort to help build a quality and caring shelter/program.
Employees may be required to carry out other duties as assigned.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
